However, this important aspect is often neglected in conservation strategies. During this workshop, the status of the Carribean coral reefs together with current conservation strategies have been presented and discussed. The results of the SABLE project (\u201cA Seascape genomics Approach to improve coral reefs conservation strategies against BLEaching\u201d), supported by the International Reef Initiative (ICRI) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), aiming to characterize the adaptive potential of corals in New Caledonia  has been be presented together with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontiersin.org\/articles\/10.3389\/fmars.2020.00609\/full#supplementary-material\">DRAPEAU tool<\/a>. This workshop  gathered scientists, decision-makers, managers, technicians and volunteers around the issue of the sustainability of protected areas.
